Octavia Blackburn

Octavia completed a PhD in Chemistry at The University of Manchester studying dyes for electronic paper. She has 10 years post-PhD research experience as a postdoc at The University of Oxford researching lanthanide coordination chemistry, and in various positions at Syngenta, BP and Johnson Matthey. In her spare time, Octavia enjoys painting furniture and playing squash.

Before Johnson Matthey, Octavia worked as an Analytical Technologist at BP from February 2017 to September 2019. In this role, they were responsible for investigating chemical interactions and developing analytical methods to study the mechanistic aspects of rock-oil-brine interactions. The research was highly collaborative and required liaison with a number of stakeholders.

Octavia Blackburn completed their undergraduate degree at the University of Durham, where they studied Chemistry. Octavia then went on to complete their PhD at The University of Manchester in the field of Chemistry.
