Jacquelyn S. Vanderbrug

Head of Sustainability Strategy at Putnam Investments

Ms. VanderBrug is Head of Sustainability Strategy. She is responsible for leading Putnam's ESG-focused business functions, including Stewardship, Engagement, Partnerships, and ESG Strategy and Integration. Ms. VanderBrug reports directly to Putnam President and CEO Robert L. Reynolds and is a member of Putnam's Operating Committee. She joined Putnam in 2022 and has been in the investment industry since 2004. A recognized thought leader in sustainable investing, Ms. VanderBrug joined Putnam from Bank of America, where she served as Head of Sustainable and Impact Investment Strategy in the Chief Investment Office since 2018. Previously at Bank of America, she was a Senior Vice President in Private Wealth Management and a Managing Director in Portfolio Construction from 2013 to 2017. From 2004 to 2012, Ms. VanderBrug was Managing Director at Criterion Ventures, where she worked with institutional and high-net-worth investors on impact strategies and established the field of gender lens investing. Earlier, Ms. VanderBrug led the business development efforts for technology firm iBASIS and co-founded Work in Progress, a nonprofit focused on job placement for disadvantaged youths. She began her career as a domestic policy analyst for the U.S. Congress.

Ms. VanderBrug is the author of several ESG-focused works, including the book Gender Lens Investing: Uncovering Opportunities for Growth. She serves on the advisory boards of GenderSmart and Duke University's CASE i3 (Initiative on Impact Investing). In addition, Ms. VanderBrug is a First Mover Fellow at the Aspen Institute and a trustee of the Trustees of Donations to the Protestant Episcopal Church.

Ms. VanderBrug earned an M.B.A. from Michigan University and a B.S. from Calvin College.
