Peter Vermaat

Board Member at PWN

Peter Vermaat is a board member at PWN and was previously the CEO of Enexis Groep from 2014 to 2020. Enexis is a Dutch energy company responsible for gas and electricity infrastructure in six provinces in the Netherlands. The company brings gas and electricity from energy suppliers safely to the homes and businesses of its 2.6 million customers. Enexis renews and maintains power cables and gas pipelines, and is responsible for the operation of gas stations and electricity substations.

With over 4,500 colleagues, Enexis achieves a turnover of approximately EUR 1.4 billion, of which EUR 900 million is invested in maintenance and management of the network. Enexis was created in 2009 from the network company of Essent, as a result of the splitting law. Since then, the company has developed into a successful autonomous company, one of the large regional network operators in the Netherlands.

The company strives to maintain its position as a leading network operator and to expand it further. This will have to be done in a context where both supply (generation) and demand for energy are changing. In addition, Enexis is continuously looking for innovative ways to make energy supply more sustainable for its customers and thus contribute to the energy transition in the Netherlands.

Peter Vermaat has a M Sc Civ Eng from Delft University of Technology, an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, and an Executive Program in Climate Change and Energy: Policy Making for the Long Term from Harvard University.
