Yinan Sun

Yinan Sun has worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Q Bio since 2022. Prior to that, they were a Researcher at the Hybrid Robotics Lab from 2021 to 2022, where they worked on Hierarchical Reinforcement Learning for Precise Soccer Shooting Skills using a Quadrupedal Robot. The paper was accepted by IROS 2022. Their roles included using Blender to generate reference motion for training policy, setting A1 model in mujoco training environment and utilizing RL to get the control policy and planner, making controller experiments, collecting data, and finetuning in the real world, and increasing the robustness of the kicking motion controller for A1. From 2021 to 2020, Yinan Sun was a Robotic Mechanical Engineer at Tencent, where they designed the 3rd version Quadruped-wheeled mechanical robot mechanical system. This included designing the quadruped-wheeled mode switch system and doing FEA on crucial parts to ensure the dimensional size and material selection were reasonable, and achieving the modes switching function. From 2020 to 2021, Yinan Sun was a Product Design Engineer at Hikvision, where they did custom volume-production product R&D. This included designing sheet metal parts and injection-molded plastic parts according to customer's requirements, making DFM and DFA reviews with external vendors and factories, using PDM/PLM (Windchill) system, becoming proficient in material switching, BOM maintenance, ECR, ECN, etc., and making lab tests for some products and collecting testing data to solve water leakage problems. Lastly, from 2020 to 2021, Yinan Sun was a Mechanical Engineer at DJI, where they did structure design and CFD of product prototypes. This included simulating and outputting the aircraft product prototype aerodynamic performance characteristic curve, calculating the stalling angle of attack, adjusting the center of gravity, and optimizing the counterweight of the aircraft product prototype, and cooperating with the control and CV team to design and make a shooting robot prototype.

Yinan Sun obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southwest Petroleum University between 2015 and 2020. In 2021, they began pursuing a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics and Control at the University of California, Berkeley.
