Marcel Weidinger

Marcel Weidinger is the current Currency Overlay Manager at QCAM. Prior to this, they worked at GAM Investments / Julius Baer from May 2008 to December 2019, where they held positions such as Investment Manager, Currency Manager, and Portfolio Manager.

As Currency Manager, Marcel was responsible for nearly 100 mandates with AUM of 6.5 billion USD. Marcel oversaw the company's compliance with internal and external currency mandates, and was also in charge of setting up a centralised currency management system. In addition, Marcel was the Fund Manager of the JB Precious Metal Funds, which were the world's first Precious Metal ETFs with Currency Hedged Shares. Under their management, the ETFs grew from scratch to 7 billion USD. Marcel also managed the JB Industrial Metal Funds, and was co-lead in the Project of a physically backed Diamond Fund.

Marcel Weidinger has a background in leadership and management from VivaCoaching, advanced visual basic and SQL from Tremegisto, and financial mathematics from HWV Winterthur. Marcel also has a certificate of proficiency in English from the University of Cambridge and a certificate in advanced English from the University of Cambridge. Lastly, they have a Kaufmann EFZ from the KV Business School Zürich.

Marcel Weidinger reports to Bernhard Eschweiler, Senior Economist. They work with Felix Dietrich - Quantitative Research, Jürgen Büscher - Currency Overlay.
