Louise Johnston

Louise Johnston is an experienced professional in clinical affairs and molecular diagnostics, currently serving as Associate Director of Clinical Affairs at QIAGEN since November 2022. Previously, Louise held roles such as Senior Clinical Program Lead at Leica Biosystems and Clinical Scientist (Genetics) at NewGene, where responsibilities included the development and validation of molecular diagnostics. Additional experience includes serving as an IVD Evaluation Methodologist at The NIHR Diagnostic Evidence Cooperative and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Newcastle University. Louise began her career as a Clinical Scientist specializing in Genetics at The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and also worked as a Senior Account Executive at Health Interactions. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Imperial College London, a Master’s degree in Molecular Medical Microbiology from the University of Nottingham, and a Bachelor's degree with honors in Biological Sciences (Medical Microbiology) from The University of Edinburgh.
