Nabiela Moolla is a Molecular Assay Research & Development Scientist at QIAGEN, specializing in the development of molecular diagnostic products with a focus on digital PCR and data-driven analysis since October 2023. Previous experience includes supporting high throughput automation platforms at QIAGEN from September 2021 to May 2022 and contributing to the COVID-19 Test and Trace initiative at the University of Birmingham in February 2021. Nabiela obtained a PhD from the University of Birmingham, researching lipid transport proteins in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and received an international scholarship from the Darwin Trust of Edinburgh. Additional educational background includes a Master’s degree, a BSc(Hons), and a Bachelor of Science from the University of the Witwatersrand, with research on mycobacterial survival and drug resistance. Early career experience includes a research associate role in pancreatic disease microbiome research and volunteer contributions in fundraising and patient support.
