Roland Sackers

Roland Sackers is the current CFO at QIAGEN. Prior to this, they were with IMMUNODIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS HOLDINGS PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANY from May 2011 to June 2018, where they were Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee. Roland was also with Operon Biotechnologies, Inc from July 2004 to December 2007 as a Member of the Board of Directors.

Sackers has a long history with QIAGEN, having been with the company in various capacities over the years. Roland was with QIAGEN Marseille (formerly Ipsogen S.A.) from July 2011 to April 2015, where they served as Board Member and Head of the Audit Committee. In this role, they were responsible for the overall company’s digitization program.

Sackers has a proven track record in financial performance delivery and organizational leadership that has enabled him to drive sustainable sales growth and profitability for QIAGEN. Roland has a strong sense of ownership and execution, which has expanded their mandate to also cover non-finance related functions such as IT, Corporate Communications, and Procurement. Roland has also been responsible for leading QIAGEN’s digital transformation initiative, which is expected to generate 50% of all sales via digital channels by 2020.

Under Sackers’ leadership, QIAGEN has consistently generated strong balance sheets and healthy cash flows that have driven sustainable growth even in times of volatile financial markets. Roland's financing activities on the equity side and the debt capital side have had a total value of more than $4 billion and have enabled more than 30 M&A transactions. In addition, they have headed QIAGEN’s business in North America, which today accounts for ~50 % of sales.

Sackers has also established a comprehensive program for compliance with international governance regulations and built new procurement, communications and shared service organizations. Roland has supported successful IPOs in the biotech and broadcasting industries as an auditor.

Roland Sackers is a Diplom-Kaufmann, or business degree holder, from the University of Münster. Roland specialized in Betriebswirtschaftslehre, or business administration.

They are on a team with Antonio Santos - SVP & Head, Global Operations, Stephany Foster - SVP & Head, Human Resources, and Jean-Pascal Viola - SVP, Corporate Business Development. Roland Sackers reports to Thierry Bernard, CEO.
