Maia Grotepass is a seasoned Android engineer with extensive experience in software development and technology consultancy. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Android Engineer at Qonto since April 2024, Maia previously held the position of Staff Software Engineer - Android Competency Lead at Luno from January 2020 to February 2024. Beginning a career in Android development as an Independent Android Developer, Maia contributed to various projects for companies such as Nomanini, Actualiser, and One Africa Media. Maia's academic background includes a Master's degree in Digital Art from the University of the Witwatersrand, a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia from the University of South Africa, and an Engineering degree from the University of Stellenbosch.

Qonto was born out of frustration. As new entrepreneurs, Alexandre and Steve felt bogged down by their own banking experience. It was time-consuming. It was complex. It also lacked the modern tools that progressive companies need. So, they decided to create a banking product fit for the modern entrepreneur. One that when you use it, just seems to "click". Our goal? To dust off the old banking experience and be the power pack for small businesses. We are driven by our desire to save our customers time. Time that they can reclaim for forging their own future. And that’s something we think is pretty valuable.
