Quadram Institute
Matthew Gilmour is a prominent figure in the field of medical microbiology, currently serving as the Director of both the AMAST Network and the Food Safety Research Network since 2024 and 2022, respectively. With a strong leadership background, Gilmour has held the position of Group Leader at the Quadram Institute since 2020 and was an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba from 2004 to 2021. Notably, Gilmour served as the Scientific Director General of the National Microbiology Laboratory at the Public Health Agency of Canada from 2015 to 2020. Additional roles include Secretary Treasurer for the Canadian Association for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and various leadership positions within the Public Health Agency of Canada. Gilmour holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology from the University of Alberta, obtained in 2004.
