Mirko Schmidt

Mirko Schmidt has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple companies and roles. Mirko co-founded Quality Match GmbH in 2020 and currently holds the position of Co-Founder and CTO. Prior to that, they worked at Google as a Software Developer from 2016 to 2020. Before joining Google, Mirko served as a Sr. Scientist at Microsoft from 2012 to 2016, where they developed algorithmic solutions for 3D Time-of-Flight technology. Mirko also worked as a Consulting Engineer at Microsoft for a brief period in 2012. Mirko's earlier experiences include working as a Research Associate at the University of Heidelberg and Sony Deutschland GmbH, where they contributed to the analysis and optimization of the image processing pipeline of 3D Time-of-Flight cameras. Mirko was also involved in defining the EMVA 1288 Standard. In addition, Mirko worked as a Consultant at SWS Berlin and gained experience as a Graduand and Student Employee at Siemens AG. At Siemens AG, they completed their diploma thesis on fast depth image acquisition and developed a novel method for fast range image acquisition. Mirko also interned at Siemens AG, where they implemented measurement functions for autonomous control loop optimization.

Mirko Schmidt obtained a Diploma in Physics from Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 2008. Then, they pursued further education and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from Heidelberg University in 2011. In addition to their formal education, Mirko Schmidt also obtained a certification in the Graduate School Program "Photonics" from the University of Jena in January 2007.
