Rabib Islam is a research engineer at Quantstamp. Rabib has also worked as a data scientist and software engineer for the Government of Canada and as a research software engineer for the National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada.

Rabib has experience developing algorithms using probabilistic graphical models to analyze social networks, leading a project which uses supervised learning models to classify communities in social networks, and refactoring Oracle SQL queries. Rabib has also enabled the incorporation of a new data stream into operations via development of a high-speed data parser in C.

Rabib has studied linear mixture models in statistical machine translation using PORTAGE, investigated differences between translation evaluation metrics in order to determine the efficacy of the BLEU metric, and built, tested, and optimized a robust Russian-to-English translation system via custom scripts leveraging multi-core CPUs.

Rabib’s work has been published in the ACL 2016 Conference on Machine Translation.

Rabib Islam received their PhD from the University of Ottawa and their MS from the same school.

They work with Po-An Lin - Research Engineer, Mohsen Ahmadvand - Senior Research Engineer, and Alejandro Padilla Gaeta - Research Engineer. Their manager is Ed Zulkoski, Head of Research.
