Asanka Jayawardena has worked in various roles since 2010. Asanka began as a Teaching Assistant at the Open University of Sri Lanka in 2011, followed by a Teaching Assistant role at the University of Colombo in 2010. In 2012, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Auburn University, and as a Research Scientist at the Industrial Technology Institute. In 2019, Jayawardena worked as a Senior Research Assistant at Alfred Health, a Technical Officer at La Trobe University, and a Research Officer in the Department of Neuroscience at Monash University, where they were responsible for conducting biomedical engineering research to develop a lab-on-a-chip biosensor for point-of-care use. Asanka is currently employed as a Quantum Device Development Engineer at Quantum Brilliance.
Asanka Jayawardena has an extensive education history. From 2006 to 2010, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Colombo. Asanka then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Physics from Auburn University in 2012 to 2014. Asanka concluded their formal education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Semiconductor Physics from Auburn University in 2018. In 2021, they obtained numerous certifications from LinkedIn in the field of project management, change management, and lean six sigma.
