Cheng-Ying James Lu has worked in various roles since 2010. Cheng-Ying James began as a PHD Researcher at National Sun Yat-sen University, where they were responsible for research on epitaxial growth and characterizations of cubic ZnxMg1-xO and ZnO on MgO substrates. Cheng-Ying James was also a teacher assistant for various classes and a research assistant for a project on growth and characterization of polar and nonpolar ZnO/ZnMgO epitaxy. In 2014, they became a Visiting Scholar at the Paul-Drude Institute, where they investigated the structural and optical properties of rocksalt ZnO/ZnMgO single heterolayers and superlattices deposited on MgO substrates by MBE. In 2015, they completed a Substitute (military) service role at The Examination Yuan of the Republic of China. From 2016 to 2022, they held a Senior Engineer role at CreaTec Fischer & Co. GmbH, where they were in charge of production, testing, upgrading, and installations of low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope/atomic force microscopy systems, molecular-beam epitaxy, and accessories at the factory and on-site. Cheng-Ying James completed ten full system installations and over 15 system service upgrades on-site in Europe, North America, and China. Cheng-Ying James is currently in a Senior Engineer role at Quantum Brilliance.
Cheng-Ying James Lu has an education history that includes three degrees from the National Sun Yat-Sen University. From 2004 to 2008, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Material Science and Optoeletronic. Cheng-Ying James then went on to earn a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in the same field from 2008 to 2010. Lastly, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Material Science and Optoeletronic from 2010 to 2015.
