Cristiana Morais

Cristiana Morais has a diverse work experience. Cristiana started in 2010 as a Research Trainee in the field of Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmaceutical Analysis. Cristiana implemented capillary electrophoresis and prepared chemical and pharmaceutical solutions during their time there.

In 2011, Cristiana worked as a Trainee in Analytical Chemistry, where they tested and controlled mineral oil in commercial products using gas chromatography. Cristiana also gained experience in performing analytical techniques and good lab practice.

From 2012 to 2013, they served as a Research Fellow in Bacterial Fermentation and Bioplastics Production. Their main tasks involved monitoring bacterial batch fermentation processes and screening microorganisms for bioplastic production.

Starting in 2014, Cristiana became a Marie Curie Research Fellow in Engineering and Environmental Microbiology at Newcastle University. Their work focused on designing and monitoring bacterial processes in wastewater treatment and water treatment control.

Cristiana Morais holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology from the Escola Superior de Turismo e Tecnologia do Mar de Peniche - Instituto Politécnico de Leiria. Cristiana then pursued a Master of Science degree in Biotecnologia from the NOVA School of Science and Technology. Lastly, they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Engineering and Environmental Microbiology from Newcastle University.
