Cheng-Chieh Chao

Vice President, Cathode at QuantumScape

Cheng-Chieh Chao has extensive work experience in both the academic and industry sectors. Cheng-Chieh began their career as a Junior Lieutenant in the ROC Army, where they served as an artillery platoon leader. After completing their military service, Cheng-Chieh joined Tesla as an intern in the Energy Storage Systems department.

In 2006, they joined Stanford University as a Research Assistant in the Nanoscale Prototyping Laboratory. During their time there, they focused on designing and fabricating various types of fuel cells, solar cells, and batteries. Cheng-Chieh also played a role in prototyping atomic layer deposition tools and engineering cathode interfaces for solid oxide fuel cells.

Cheng-Chieh then moved on to QuantumScape, where they held the position of Vice President, Cathode. Cheng-Chieh has been with the company since 2011, but the end date for this role is not specified.

Cheng-Chieh Chao's education history begins with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University, which they obtained from 1999 to 2003. Cheng-Chieh then pursued further studies at Stanford University, where they earned a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2005 to 2007. Subsequently, they obtained a second Master's degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University between 2007 and 2009.
