Carolyn Ren is a distinguished academic and entrepreneur with extensive experience in mechanical engineering and microfluidics. As a Professor at the University of Waterloo since May 2004, Carolyn has attained the ranks of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and currently Professor. In addition to academic roles, Carolyn co-founded QuantWave Technologies Inc. in December 2016, serving as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, and co-founded Air Microfluidics Systems in April 2020, taking on the role of Chief Scientific Officer. Carolyn holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering specialized in Microfluidics and Lab-on-a-Chip Technologies from the University of Toronto, along with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Thermal Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology.
