Jay Ponder has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Jay began their career at Rice University as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in 1984. Jay then moved on to Yale University in 1989, where they worked as an Instructor in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry. In 1990, Jay joined Washington University in St. Louis as a Professor in Chemistry, Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics, and Biomedical Engineering. Recently, in 2020, they became the Founder and Consultant at Qubit Pharmaceuticals.
Jay Ponder began their education at Wabash College from 1975 to 1978, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Mathematics and Chemistry. Jay then pursued further education at Harvard University from 1978 to 1984, earning a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a specialization in Natural Product Synthesis. Following this, they attended Yale University from 1985 to 1989 for postdoctoral studies in the Department of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry, focusing on Computational Biophysics.
