Sophie D'Amours holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Polytechnique Montréal and an M.B.A. with a specialization in manufacturing and logistics systems from Université Laval. D'Amours began a longstanding tenure at Université Laval in August 1995, where roles have included Rectrice, Professeure, and Vice-rectrice à la recherche et à la création. D'Amours serves on the board of directors for Québec International and has held the position of Présidente for the Conseil de l'innovation du Québec since 2020. Additionally, D'Amours is a member of the executive council for U15-Group of Canadian Research Universities since August 2022 and previously chaired the board of directors for Universités Canada until October 2021. D'Amours also presided over the international evaluation committee for Hcéres from 2021 to 2022.
