Omar Rafiq is an experienced legal professional currently serving as an Assistant District Attorney at the Queens District Attorney's Office since September 2021, where responsibilities include prosecuting misdemeanor crimes and evaluating evidence in light of victim concerns. Prior to this role, Omar Rafiq served in multiple capacities within the New York City Police Department, including a position in the Office of the Chief of Department, where tasks involved analyzing homicide data and gang activities, as well as serving in the Strategic Response Group during critical incidents. Omar Rafiq began the law career as a Judicial Intern in the Sonia & Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program, gaining invaluable courtroom experience, and also completed a formative internship with the New York State Attorney General's Office. Educationally, Omar Rafiq earned a Juris Doctorate from New York Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from John Jay College (CUNY).
