Alan Payne has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of data analytics and research. Alan has held several leadership roles and has worked with various organizations and institutions.
Alan's recent role is as the Head of Data and Optimization at Queensland Country Bank, where they provide strategic insights for data analytics and guides the organization on its information evolution journey.
Prior to this, Alan worked as the Manager of Data Analytics and Performance at yourtown, where they led a team of Data Analysts/Scientists and ensured precise and consistent analytics.
Alan also worked as a Lead Data Scientist at ORIMA Research, where they analyzed survey and administrative data to drive business insights. Alan also developed sophisticated data visuals using Power BI, D3.js, and Python Dash/Flask.
Earlier in their career, Alan held positions such as Principal Data Scientist at The Merrier, Director at Stellar Strategic Data Analytics, Senior Data Analyst at Cause Way, and Senior Information Analyst at the Western Australian Department of Education.
Additionally, Alan has experience working with the Department of Parliamentary Services, Australian Bureau of Statistics, and NASA, where they contributed to various research projects and provided expertise in data analysis and interpretation.
Alan Payne completed their education in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Alan pursued a Bachelor's degree with honors in Astrophysics from The Australian National University, which they completed from 2000 to 2004. Following this, Alan pursued a higher level of education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Southern Queensland. Alan completed their PhD from 2016 to 2019.
