Cherish Amby-Okolo is currently gaining experience as a MITES Semester participant at the MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science, while also serving as a College Prep Scholar with QuestBridge, where recognition includes selection as one of 3,518 scholars from over 15,000 applicants and receiving a $1,000 Quest for Excellence STEM Award. As a Scientific Researcher at Oberlin College, Cherish has developed a research paper focused on the effects of the PER3 clock gene on cognition, athleticism, and mental health. In addition, Cherish works as an Instructor with Breakthrough Houston, teaching STEM classes to gifted 7th-grade students, and holds the position of Chief Executive Officer for TILES of Women, organizing all-women Scrabble tournaments supported by a grant and achieving finalist status in the Rise For the World contest. Participation in the Yale Young Global Scholars program further enriches Cherish's academic profile, which includes a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis and a background in organic chemistry and medicine from Phillips Exeter Academy and DeBakey High School for Health Professionals, respectively.
