Andy Lam has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Andy started their career as a Maintenance Engineering Assistant at Global Renewables Eastern Creek Pty Ltd, where they assisted with maintenance operations and generated risk assessments. Andy then worked as a Junior Mechanical Engineer at UNSW Australia, focusing on the diesel engine supply system for the PLATO project and analyzing failure modes in diesel engines.

Next, Andy joined UNSW Formula SAE Motorsport Team - Redback Racing, where they held multiple roles including Suspension Design Engineer, Team Leader, Treasurer, WHS Officer, and Suspension Team Member. In these positions, they worked on improving suspension design, managing the team's structure for vehicle design and testing, ensuring WHS standards in the laboratory, and manufacturing suspension components.

Afterwards, Andy worked as an Undergraduate Fire Safety Engineer at AECOM, where they derived fire safety performance solutions and generated fire engineering brief and inspection reports for major projects.

Andy then gained automotive industry experience at Holden, starting as a Vehicle Development Engineer intern and then working as a Transmission Calibration Engineer and Engine Calibration Engineer. In these roles, they calibrated diagnostics and investigated clutch fill calibration changes, among other responsibilities.

Currently, Andy is working at Quickstep Group as an Automation Engineer, involved in Numerical Control programming and inspecting production parts for Joint Strike Fighter programs.

Andy Lam holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UNSW (2012-2018) and a Bachelor's Degree in Business/Commerce, General from UNSW Business School (2012-2018). Prior to their university education, they completed their Higher School Certificate at Fairfield High School (2006-2011), with a focus on Mathematics, English, Physics, and PDHPE. In addition to their formal education, Andy has obtained certifications including a Black Belt Certification (BB) from General Motors (2019), a Green Belt Certification (GB) from General Motors (2017), and a Martial Arts Coaching Certification - Level Bronze from the Australian Karate Federation (2012).
