Marcos Vieira

Marcos Vieira has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Marcos is currently working as a Software Engineer at Quip/Slack since May 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer at Google from February 2019 to May 2020. Before their time at Google, they served as a Senior Research Scientist at Hitachi America, Ltd. from January 2015 to February 2019. Marcos also worked as a Research Staff Member at IBM Research from April 2012 to January 2015. Marcos began their career as a Graduate Student Researcher and Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Riverside from September 2007 to December 2011. Marcos also gained research experience as a Research Summer Intern at IBM Research in 2011, and as a Research Summer Intern at Telefonica Investigacion y Desarrollo, Madrid in 2009. In addition, they worked as a Software Engineer at Esri from May 2010 to May 2011, and as a Research Summer Intern at AT&T Labs - Research from May 2008 to August 2008. Marcos started their professional journey as a Lecturer at the University of Sao Paulo from September 2004 to August 2005. Throughout their career, Marcos has specialized in various fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, and software development.

Marcos Vieira holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Riverside. Marcos also pursued a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD ABD in Computer Science from George Mason University. Marcos obtained an M.Sc. in Computer Science from USP - Universidade de São Paulo and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Universidade Federal de São Carlos - UFSCar Oficial. Additionally, Marcos obtained an edX Honor Code Certificate for Introduction to Big Data with Apache Spark from edX in June 2015.
