Karl Matthäus Schmidt

CEO at Quirin Privatbank AG

Even as a child, he got to know the banking business from the bottom up, because they often talked about nothing else at the dinner table. His father was a banker and so were his grandfather and his father. A total of six generations have shaped their family history and thus the history of SchmidtBank.

In this respect, it is perhaps not surprising that he founded his own bank at the age of 25, the first discount broker in Germany, which he listed on the stock exchange five years later and finally sold to a major French bank.

One central question has occupied him throughout his life: "How can he make people in Germany better investors?" In the years that followed, he developed a second banking innovation, fee-based advice. In 2006, under his leadership, they entered the market as a new bank called quirin bank.

In addition to his job as CEO of what is now Quirin Privatbank AG, He is now the father of five children. He has his roots in Upper Franconia, even if his new adopted home is Berlin - he lives and works there with great pleasure.
