Baran is an experienced researcher in the fields of cellular and molecular neurobiology, and a specialist in RNA-based assays, mammalian cell culture, and in vivo disease modeling. He holds a B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Istanbul Technical University and a M.Sc. in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience from the University of Tübingen. Baran earned his Ph.D, focused on the role of neurodevelopmental-disorder risk genes in cognition, from the University of Basel. This was performed as part of a 4-year collaboration with Roche, which allowed him to gain experience in the global pharmaceutical industry and developing novel therapeutic targets. In his free time, Baran enjoys traveling and trying new cuisines.
