Amanda Gudmundsson

Executive Dean, Faculty of Business & Law at QUT

Professor Amanda Gudmundsson is Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Law. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (GU) in the field of industrial psychology, Graduate Certificate in Education (Higher Education) (QUT), a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (OH&S and Org Psych), and a 1st class Honours degree in psychology.

QUT is a large Australian public university with a focus on industry engaged education and research. Since 2005 the Business School has earned the triple-crown of international accreditation with AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, placing it in the top 1% of business schools worldwide.

As Executive Dean, Amanda is responsible for the guidance, governance and management of the Business and Law Faculty, leading approximately 700 staff to deliver on the University’s vision to provide transformational education and research relevant to the community. The role has oversight of six research centres and specialist clusters, and a comprehensive education portfolio supporting in excess of 14,000 students from 70 countries. The formal education portfolio is complemented by an award winning co-curricula program enhancing personal development, employability and career direction.

After a career in human resources, Amanda has been with QUT for more than 20 years undertaking a variety of academic and leadership roles across the University. Prior to the Executive Dean role, Amanda was Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching for the Business School, leading the School’s education portfolio, including strategy, learning design and innovation, accreditation and rankings, and student support and co-curricular services. Amanda also volunteers with the international business accreditation agencies AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA to offer mentoring and peer-review activities.

Amanda is passionate about human capability development, and encouraging the nexus between research and business practice to stimulate and inform innovation. Amanda’s research interests apply positive psychology to leadership and executive development. Her personal ambition is to engage authentically and passionately in work and life, embracing opportunities to learn and make a positive difference and impact.
