Merit Hondelink is a Senior Vakspecialist in Paleobotanie at RAAP since August 2023 and a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen since October 2016, focusing on the reconstruction of daily meals in Early Modern Dutch cities. Additionally, Merit is the founder of the first archaeobotany summer school aimed at exploring traditional food practices. As a board member and secretary of Biologisch Archeologisch Platform, Merit has contributed to the field since February 2018 and previously served as a beleidsmedewerker at NWO and a teaching assistant at Universiteit Antwerpen. An experienced archaeobotanist and palaeoecologist, Merit has held positions at Archeodienst Noord bv and interned at the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed. Merit's academic background includes a BA in History and two degrees in Archeology from the University of Groningen, along with experience as a columnist for ISgeschiedenis.nl.
