Shaun Sandy

Data Governance Lead at RAC WA

Shaun Sandy has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Shaun started their career as a Senior Applications Developer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2001. From there, they transitioned into an IT Service Desk Manager role at Peabody, where they implemented and managed an ITIL-aligned IT Service Desk and ITSM department.

Shaun then worked at Transport for London as an IM Change Management Consultant and later as an IM Release Management Consultant, where they played a lead role in implementing business and IT changes. Shaun also managed IT change at London Underground during a large transformation program.

After that, Shaun joined St John Ambulance as an IT Services Manager, where they implemented IT service management programs and arranged training for IT staff. Shaun then moved to Cyient (was Infotech Enterprises Europe) as a Support Services Manager Europe, where they implemented an ITIL-based support service and established an onshore/offshore support model.

Shaun's next role was at Western Power, where they served as a Data Team Leader and later as an Application Services Team Leader. In these roles, they introduced Agile SCRUM as a standard delivery model and achieved positive changes in team culture and customer satisfaction.

Shaun then started their own business, BITS Web Design, where they served as the Director. Shaun provided web applications, business intelligence, and analytics solutions to small businesses in Perth.

Shaun also volunteered for DAMA Australia, first as the Perth Branch Head and National Committee Member, and later as the National Secretary. In these roles, they advanced the Information Management agenda and influenced the worldwide network of DAMA chapters.

Most recently, Shaun worked at RAC WA as a Data Quality Team Lead, Data Governance Analyst, Product Analyst Motoring, and currently holds the position of Data Governance Lead.

Overall, Shaun Sandy has demonstrated a strong background in data management, IT service management, and project leadership in various industries.

Shaun Sandy has a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) in Economics from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, obtained between 1996 and 1999. Shaun also earned a Level 3 Management certification from the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) at the University of Northampton in 2005. In 2015, Shaun completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Organizational Leadership from the Australian Institute of Business. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including ITIL, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and Leadership in Tech, from institutions such as LinkedIn and DDLS.
