Jane Barbian

Jane Barbian began their career in education as an English and Language Arts coordinator in Racine, Wisconsin in 1980. Jane remained in that position for 34 years, until they were elected as President of the Racine Unified School District in 2014. As President, Barbian is responsible for the district's daily operations, including its budget, curriculum, and personnel. Jane has been widely praised for their leadership and commitment to improving the district's schools.

Jane Barbian's educational career includes a bachelor's degree in elementary education and early childhood from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from National Lewis University, a reading certification from Cardinal Stritch University, and an administrative reading specialist from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
