Loek Smits

Loek Smits is a medical professional specializing in infectious diseases with extensive experience in various roles within prominent medical institutions. Currently serving as an internist-infectioloog at Radboudumc since July 2023, prior positions include fellow in infectious diseases and AIOS in internal medicine at Amsterdam UMC from November 2018 to July 2023, and AIOS in internal medicine at MC Slotervaart from September 2016 to November 2018. Loek Smits completed a PhD in internal medicine with a focus on vascular medicine at the University of Amsterdam between 2012 and 2019, alongside a master’s degree in quality and safety in patient care from NFU from January 2021 to January 2023. Early training includes work as an ANIOS in intensive care at VU medical center from April 2011 to August 2012, and medical studies at Utrecht University from 2004 to 2011.
