Mihail Ion has a diverse and extensive work experience in the banking and finance industry. Mihail began their career in 2002 at Raiffeisen Bank Romania, where they held various roles including Chief Economist and Head of Asset and Liability Management. In 2005, they started up and headed Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen (FWR), the private banking service of the bank. Mihail also served as the President of Raiffeisen Asset Management (RAM), where they were responsible for strategy development and regulatory approval, among other duties. During their tenure at RAM, they successfully developed the asset management business and pioneered investment solutions in Romania. Additionally, Mihail Ion has experience in academia as a Lecturer at The Bucharest University of Economic Studies, where they taught courses in Bank Management and coordinated a master's program in banking.
Mihail Ion completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchanges from Academia de Studii Economice din București in 1997. Mihail then pursued a Master's degree in the Doctoral School of Finance and Banking from the same institution from 1997 to 1998. Mihail continued their education at the Academia de Studii Economice din București and obtained their Ph.D. in International Finance from 1998 to 2003. Finally, Mihail completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program at the CFA Institute from 2002 to 2006.
