Zdenek Romanek

Zdenek Romanek has extensive work experience in the banking and financial industry. Zdenek is currently serving as the President & CEO of Raiffeisen Bank Romania since March 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as an Advisor to the President & CEO of the same company in February 2022.

Before joining Raiffeisen Bank Romania, Romanek held various positions at Erste Group. From June 2019 to January 2022, they served as the Group-wide lead for Bankassurance, where they focused on developing bankassurance strategies and leveraging digital and data for financial advisory. Zdenek was also a Member of the Digital Strategy Board of Erste Group from January 2016 to January 2022.

Romanek's previous experience includes serving as a Member of the Board and Chief Retail Officer at Slovenská sporiteľña, where they led the digital transformation of the bank and played a significant role in establishing it as a model bank within the CEE region. Zdenek was also a Member of the Supervisory Board at KOOPERATIVA poisťovňa, a.s. VIG from April 2018 to December 2021.

Additionally, Romanek has worked at organizations such as George Labs, Air Bank a.s., Česká pojišťovna, Penzijni spolecnost Ceske pojistovny, a.s., and McKinsey & Company.

Throughout their career, Romanek has demonstrated expertise in digital innovation, retail banking, CRM, marketing, and product management.

Zdenek Romanek's education history includes an MBA from INSEAD in 2004. Zdenek also attended the GLOBAL CENTER FOR DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION's Digital Leaders Summit in both 2019 and 2020 at IMD. In 2019, they completed a program on digital strategy and transformation at ESMT Berlin. Zdenek earned a Mgr. degree in Computer Science from Charles University between 1994 and 1999. Additionally, they obtained an Ing. degree in Insurance and Banking from Prague University of Economics and Business from 1995 to 2000. As part of an Erasmus program, they studied Economics at Copenhagen Business School in 1999.
