Jonathan Chatfield

Jonathan Chatfield has a diverse work experience in the railway industry. Jonathan is currently the Head of Railway Strategy & Policy at Rail Delivery Group, where they are responsible for developing policy positions for the rail freight sector and improving stations for customers and communities. Prior to this role, they held the position of Head of Policy (Freight and Stations) at the same company.

Before joining Rail Delivery Group, Jonathan worked as a Manager, Regulation at both Rail Delivery Group and Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC). Jonathan also served as a Senior Regulatory Reform Specialist, Commercial Advisor, and Business Manager at Network Rail. Additionally, they gained experience as a Passenger Negotiation Manager at Railtrack.

Jonathan's work experience is not limited to the railway industry. Jonathan also has political experience, having served as a Councillor at South Cambs District Council, representing the residents of Histon and Impington.

Jonathan began their career as a Brand Manager at WAGN Railway, where they played a key role in re-launching the Stansted Airport to London rail link and increasing market share, income, and yield.

Jonathan Chatfield obtained their GCE '0' Levels from Weymouth Grammar School between 1981 and 1986. Following that, they attended Weymouth College from 1986 to 1988, completing their A levels. Later, from 1988 to 1992, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences (Econ and Pol) at the University of Bradford. Lastly, Jonathan earned their Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Warwick's Warwick Business School, completing the program between 2002 and 2008.
