Richard Evans has a diverse work experience in the transportation industry. Richard started their career as a Transport Resource Coordinator at West Sussex County Council in 2004. Richard then joined The Go-Ahead Group plc in 2005 as a Senior Management Trainee, where they focused on Operations and Strategy. In 2007, they moved to Southern Railway and served as a Station Manager before becoming the Head of Operations Training and Recruitment. In this role, they led recruitment activities and improved the training program for train drivers and customer services roles. In 2013, Richard returned to The Go-Ahead Group plc as the Head of Rail Policy, where they advised the Group CEO and Rail leadership team. Richard also worked as a Business Change Manager and launched a Learning and Development Academy during their time with the company. In 2016, they joined Rail Delivery Group as the Head of Policy, advocating for customer-centric reforms in the railway industry. In 2022, Richard joined the Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT) as the Policy Lead for Regional Partnerships.
Richard Evans attended Chichester High School from 1994 to 2001. Richard then enrolled at the University of Birmingham, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from 2001 to 2004. In 2015, they attended the Roffey Park Institute for Organizational Leadership.
