David Maidment

Founder Ambassador at Railway Children

David Maidment has extensive experience in both voluntary and professional roles, notably as Co-ordinator of the Nantwich Street Pastors since May 2012, overseeing a project that provides a caring presence on local streets. As the Founder Ambassador for Railway Children, Maidment transitioned from a 15-year chairmanship, focusing on advocacy and support for street children globally. In addition, Maidment serves as Chair of the Children's Human Rights Network at Amnesty International UK, engaging a large membership on critical issues affecting children. A seasoned professional in railway safety, Maidment held various management positions at British Rail from 1960 to 1996, ultimately leading safety policy development following significant railway events. Education includes an Honorary MA in Education from the University of Chichester and a BA Hons in German Language & Literature from UCL.
