Sanjay Rai is a Scientist at the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) since 2003, focusing on the development of x-ray optics for synchrotrons, thin film deposition, and characterization. Responsibilities include the development of x-ray multilayer optics, x-ray diffraction, reflectivity setups, and an ion beam sputtering system, with current work centered on establishing an x-ray diffraction-based engineering application beamline on Indus-2. Previously, Sanjay Rai was a Material Scientist at IGCAR from August 1991 to April 2003, concentrating on stress measurements in engineering components and utilizing x-ray diffraction for characterizing microstructures to extend component life. Sanjay Rai holds an M.Sc. in Physics with a specialization in Solid State Physics, Optics, and Material Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, completed between 1988 and 1990.
