Louise Martland is an experienced ecological professional currently serving as Associate Director and biodiversity lead at RammSanderson Ecology Ltd since January 2025. Previously, Louise held multiple roles at Environment Bank from April 2013 to January 2024, including Associate Ecologist, Principal Ecologist, Interim Conservation Director, National Biodiversity Manager, and Biodiversity Offsetting Project Officer, focusing on the development and implementation of biodiversity offsetting strategies across Warwickshire, Coventry, Solihull, and nationally. Prior experience includes serving as an Ecologist at Warwickshire County Council from January 2009 to March 2013, where ecological advice was provided to local planning authorities, and conducting habitat and species surveys. Earlier roles included Assistant Ecologist at Warwickshire County Council and Nature Conservation Assistant at Birmingham City Council. Louise holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Ecology and Environmental Management from Cardiff University, completed in 2008.

RammSanderson Ecology Ltd is a specialist ecological consultancy based at offices in the East Midlands, West Midlands, Yorkshire and Northern Ireland, offering services in Ecology, Flood Risk and Arboriculture. We hold a 5* RISQS rating for Network Rail managed infrastructure with ten PTS accredited ecologists. Founded by Oliver Ramm and Nick Sanderson, the company has core principles of coherent advice based on experience and pragmatism; delivery of high quality work in a timely, cost efficient manner and a belief in customer service, whilst adhering to the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management’s Code of Professional Conduct. We believe it is possible, having delivered projects in this manner for some years, to have a practice which can deliver ecological inputs on time, on budget and work with the client and their team to find mutually beneficial solutions.
