Yang Hu

Yang Hu has a strong background in bioinformatics and data analysis, with experience in various research and industry settings. They started their career as a Research Assistant at East China University of Science and Technology in 2005. Later, they worked as a Ph.D. Fellow at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, where they patented a ligand-binding peptide probe for Alzheimer's disease. In 2012, they joined Lucerna, Inc. as a Research Scientist I.

In 2013, Yang Hu began working at Weill Cornell Medicine and held multiple roles, including Laboratory Manager/Technician I, Technician II, and Bioinformatics Analyst. During this time, they contributed to the development of a digital PCR method for detecting NPM1 mutations and prepared next-generation sequencing libraries for acute myeloid leukemia. They also conducted single-cell data analysis for clinical trials and various scientific projects, resulting in multiple publications.

In 2020, Yang Hu served as a Consultant at Fluent BioSciences Inc., where they developed a customized single-cell data analysis pipeline for a commercial sequencing protocol. Currently, they hold the position of Scientist at Rancho BioSciences, where they work on the analysis of single-cell transcriptomic datasets and conduct independent research projects on cellular subpopulations and gene expression patterns.

Throughout their career, Yang Hu has demonstrated expertise in single-cell analysis, developing statistical models, and addressing scientific and business questions in a fast-paced environment. They have published their work in high-impact journals and have a patent for a peptide probe.

Yang Hu has an extensive education history. Yang started their academic journey at the East China University of Science and Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Polymer Science and Engineering from 2001 to 2005. During the same period, they also obtained a Minor in English. Following this, Yang Hu pursued a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the East China University of Science and Technology from 2005 to 2006.

Yang Hu then went on to further their studies at the New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from 2006 to 2012. After completing their Ph.D., Yang Hu decided to delve into the field of Computer Science and enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Yang is currently pursuing a Master of Computer Science degree with a specialization in Machine Learning, which is expected to be complete in 2022.
