Thomas Verghese

Thomas Verghese, CFA, is an Assistant Policy Researcher at RAND since September 2025, specializing in strategic economic security and banking. Previously, Thomas held the position of Vice President at Research Affiliates from March 2020 to August 2025, contributing to pioneering developments in Smart Beta and the All-Asset fund. Prior experience includes serving as Associate Portfolio Manager at Affinity Investment Advisors, where portfolio management focused on the International Portfolio team, and an International Equity Portfolio Intern role, developing a validated international strategy for institutional clients. Thomas began a career in research as a Research Assistant at Reed College, examining monetary regimes during the Great Depression under Professor Jalil. Educationally, Thomas earned a BA in Economics from Reed College and is pursuing a Master of Philosophy in Public Policy Analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy, expected to complete in May 2027.
