Emmanouil Athanasakis

Emmanouil Athanasakis has extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and molecular genetics. Emmanouil is currently working as the Head of Bioinformatics at Randox since April 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior NGS Bioinformatician at Randox from October 2021 to March 2022.

From December 2017 to September 2021, Emmanouil worked as an NGS Bioinformatician at IRCCS Burlo Garofolo. During their time there, they were involved in projects related to personalized medicine in oncology, focusing on the early detection of recurrence in gynecological tumors using Liquid Biopsy and NGS. Emmanouil also conducted NGS data analysis for the identification of germline mutations in rare genetic diseases.

Emmanouil completed their Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the University of Trieste from November 2014 to October 2017. Prior to that, they worked as an NGS Scientist at IRCCS Burlo Garofolo from January 2014 to October 2014, specializing in the identification of somatic mutations in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and tumor progression monitoring.
