Thierry Besson

Thierry Besson has extensive work experience in the software and electronic design automation (EDA) industry. Thierry currently serves as the Director of Software & EDA Synthesis at Rapid Silicon, where they are responsible for managing software development and leading the Armenian and Pakistan SW Synthesis Teams. Additionally, they are involved in individual contributions related to advanced Logic Synthesis Technologies.

Prior to their current role, Besson worked as a Software Engineer at NanoXplore SAS from July 2017 to June 2021. Thierry also served as a Principal Engineer at Mentor Graphics from January 2015 to June 2017, a Principal Software Engineer at Cadence Design Systems from January 2012 to December 2014, and a Principal Engineer at Mentor Graphics from June 2004 to November 2011.

Before joining Mentor Graphics, Besson held the position of Senior Staff Engineer at Synopsys from June 2002 to June 2004. Thierry also worked at Avant! as a Senior Staff Engineer from January 2000 to January 2002 and as a Staff Engineer from January 1999 to January 2000.

Earlier in their career, Besson worked as a Staff Engineer at interHdl from June 1998 to November 1998 and as a Senior Software Engineer at Avant! from January 1997 to June 1998. Thierry started their professional journey as a Software Engineer at Compass Design Automation / Avant! Corp. in 1996.

Thierry Besson completed their education with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from INP Grenoble and UC Berkeley from 1990 to 1996. Thierry also obtained an Ingénieur ENSIMAG degree in Computer Science with a focus on Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence from the National School of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics of Grenoble between 1987 and 1990. Additionally, they pursued their Ph.D. studies at the EECS department of the University of California, Berkeley from 1991 to 1994.
