Rick Thomas, ENP, RPL, CMCP has a diverse and extensive work experience in emergency communications and management. Rick is currently working at RapidSOS as the ECC Engagement Manager for the Southeast Region. Previously, they held the position of ECC Engagement Manager - Capital Region at the same company.
Before joining RapidSOS, Rick worked at Citizen as a part of the Central Operations team. Prior to that, they served as the Police Communications Manager at the Town of Apex from 2018 to 2021. In this role, Rick was responsible for developing communication strategies, managing deadlines, and supervising junior staff.
Rick also has experience working at Town of Cary, UNC Health Care, Orange County (N.C.) Government, New Hanover County, and Town of Wrightsville Beach in various roles such as Emergency Communications Shift Supervisor, Aeromedical Communications Specialist, 9-1-1 Telecommunicator, and Telecommunicator/Parking Enforcement.

Rick Thomas, ENP, RPL, CMCP has a diverse education history. In 2020, they completed the PSAP Executive Management Program at Richmond Community College. In 2011 and 2012, they attended Methodist University, where they earned a degree in the West Point Leadership Program. Additionally, in 1994 to 1997, they studied Fire Science/Fire-fighting at Cape Fear Community College. Prior to that, from 1992 to 1996, they attended Topsail High School.
Alongside their education, Rick has obtained several certifications. In 2022, they completed the "Leading a Customer-Centric Culture" program offered by LinkedIn. In 2015, they earned the Emergency Number Professional (ENP) certification from NENA: The 9-1-1 Association. In 2012, they received the Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP) certification, also from NENA: The 9-1-1 Association. In 2011, they became a Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL) certified by APCO International. Lastly, in 2007, they obtained the Advanced Telecommunicator Professional Certificate from the North Carolina Department of Justice.
