Duncan Maidens

Duncan Maidens has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Duncan began their career in 1987 as a TV Engineer and Lecturer at the British Broadcasting Corporation. Duncan then joined the Royal Navy as a Lieutenant Instructor Officer from 1991 to 1995. Following this, they worked as a Research Assistant and Lecturer at the University of Salford from 1996 to 1998. From there, they moved to Staffordshire University where they served as a Senior Lecturer and LMC for Cisco Academy, predominantly focusing on Networking, from 1998 to 2001. Duncan then joined Birmingham City University, where they held several roles including Senior Lecturer, Manager Network Technology, Consultant Technologist in Networking, and finally Senior Lecturer and Head of Center of Excellence from 2001 to 2019. Duncan'smost recent position is Director of Computer Science Education at the Raspberry Pi Foundation, where they promote global Computer Science Education and provides resources for teachers in England.

Duncan Maidens attended Haslingden High School from 1977 to 1984, where they obtained their O levels and A levels. Duncan then pursued a BSc Hons degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Newcastle University, completing it from 1984 to 1987. In 1995 to 1996, Duncan obtained an MSc degree in Networks and Data Comms from The University of Salford.

In terms of certifications, Duncan has obtained the following:
