Ahmed Alawi, PhD CEng, has a diverse work history in various roles and industries. Ahmed began their career as a Chemical Engineer at Shell International, where they focused on optimizing oil well production and managing databases. Ahmed then moved on to the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, where they worked as a Teaching & Research Assistant, providing guidance and assistance to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Chemical Engineering department.
Afterward, Ahmed joined Genzyme as a Senior Scientist, specializing in process analytical technology and on-line/at-line analytical measurement and control technology for chemical processes. Ahmed played a crucial role in developing robust chemical processes and supporting API process development and scale-up activities.
Ahmed later joined Philips Lighting as a Senior Engineer, further enhancing their engineering skills. Ahmed then took on the role of Healthcare Programme Director at the Gulf Research Centre - Cambridge University, where they oversaw healthcare programs and initiatives.
Ahmed's leadership abilities were further demonstrated in their roles as an Executive Director at SPOT Energy Trading and Chief Executive Officer at Fynamics Fund Investment. These positions allowed him to showcase their strategic decision-making skills and business acumen.
Most recently, Ahmed held the position of Chief Executive Officer at RAY International LLC, a specialized Electrical Maintenance company in GCC.
To complement their professional experience, Ahmed is a member of ISPE - International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering. Additionally, they have served as a Non-Executive Director at Deals S.p.A, Milan.
Ahmed Alawi, PhD CEng, obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from Henley Business School in 2013, focusing on Venture Capital, Investment Strategy, and Management. Prior to that, they completed their PhD in Multivariate Process Control and PAT at Newcastle University in 2005. In 2002, they received a BEng degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Sheffield. Ahmed Alawi also holds an MEng degree in Chemical Engineering, which they obtained from Imperial College London in 2000.
