Alex Rose-Parfitt began working in the technology industry in 2003 at BAE Systems, where they held various roles including Technology Strategy Manager and Capability Technology Leader for Materials. In these positions, they coordinated the long-term future product portfolio and led a team of scientists in materials research for air, land, and sea applications. In 2013, Alex became an independent Science and Technical Adviser to the UK government, working closely with government departments and councils. Alex then joined QinetiQ in 2015 as an Engineering Director and later moved to Raytheon UK in 2017 to continue in the same role.

Alex Rose-Parfitt attended Hutton Grammar School in Lancashire from 1989 to 1996. Following this, they pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biology at the University of Reading, where they studied from 1998 to 2001. Alex then continued their education at the University of Bath, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biology and Mechanical Engineering, completing their studies from 2001 to 2004.
