Alan Newton

Alan Newton is an experienced professional with a diverse background in finance and advisory roles. Currently serving as an Advisor at the Bank of England since April 2019, Alan also contributes as a Board Trustee at both Reach South Academy Trust and the University for the Creative Arts. Previously, Alan held the position of Non Executive Director at Belmont Green Finance Limited until February 2023 and was a long-standing consultant and partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer from 1980 to 2019. Notably, Alan was the Global Head of the Finance Practice from 2008 to 2012 and played a key role in pioneering several financial transactions in the UK. Alan's educational credentials include an MA in Jurisprudence and a BCL from the University of Oxford, a Master's degree in History of Art from The Courtauld Institute of Art, and a PhD in History of Art from the University of Bristol.
