Senior Software / Data Engineer at Reactive Robotics

Thomas McEntee has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Thomas most recently worked as a Software/Data Engineer at Reactive Robotics since April 2022. Prior to that, they were a PHD Student at Heriot-Watt University, where they conducted research and designed a novel thin-film lens-less camera. Their work involved extensive research of camera models and meta-materials, as well as creating optical simulation models and building their own camera.

Before their PHD, Thomas worked as a Software Engineer at navel robotics GmbH, where they developed new features for an empathic and social robot. Thomas primarily used C, Python, and Node for their work. Thomas also gained experience as a Software Developer at Valeo from August 2018 to January 2020.

In addition to their technical roles, Thomas also has experience in sales and customer service. Thomas worked as a Sales Assistant at Royal Mile Whiskies, where they assisted customers in choosing whisky and demonstrated strong knowledge of whisky and its history. Thomas also has research experience as a Researcher at Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University and as a Research Assistant at the Italian Institute of Technology.

Thomas has also showcased their talents in the performing arts industry, working at the Fringe Festival George Square Theatre during the festival season in 2009.

Overall, Thomas has a strong background in software engineering, research, and customer service, with a particular focus on robotics and camera technologies.

Thomas McEntee attended Frankfurt International School from 2003 to 2006, where they pursued an International Baccalaureate-Bilingual English-German degree. Following this, from 2006 to 2011, they attended Heriot-Watt University, where they obtained a Robotics and Cybertronics MEng degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
