Jessica Goss

Jessica Goss has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Jessica is currently employed as a Research Associate II at ReAlta Life Sciences, Inc. since November 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Chemist I at the City of Chesapeake from September 2019 to November 2020. From November 2018 to September 2019, they took a break from their professional career to be a stay-at-home mom due to relocation.

Jessica has a strong background in scientific research, having worked at PPD as a Senior Scientist from November 2016 to October 2018, and as a Scientist from January 2015 to November 2016. Jessica was responsible for developing and improving methods for analyzing pharmaceutical compounds and anti-drug antibodies. Jessica also conducted complex sample preparation and analysis procedures independently, with minimal supervision.

Before joining PPD, Jessica gained experience in forensic biology and microbiology as a Visiting Scientist at the Counterterroism and Forensic Science Research Unit, FBI Laboratory Division, from June 2013 to January 2015. Jessica conducted research on Bacillus anthracis and ricin, developing protocols and analyzing forensic signatures using Raman spectroscopy and statistical data analysis.

Jessica's educational background includes a Master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, where they worked on their research thesis from August 2012 to June 2013. Jessica also served as a Laboratory Manager and Research Assistant, characterizing chemical and morphological signatures of Bacillus spores and Yersinia pestis. During this time, they trained and supervised undergraduate students and a part-time lab technician.

Prior to their graduate studies, Jessica worked as a Research Assistant at Eastern Virginia Medical School from September 2008 to August 2011, where they focused on characterizing the kinetic mechanism of Myosin VIIa and its mutations. Jessica also trained and supervised students in research projects.

Additionally, Jessica worked as a Cytotology Preparation Technologist at Bon Secours Health System from June 2007 to September 2008.

Jessica Goss completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry from Old Dominion University, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Jessica later pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Forensic Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, completing it from 2011 to 2013. Following their master's program, Jessica participated in a Fellowship at Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) from 2013 to 2015, specializing in Forensic Biology and Microbiology.
