Sarah Parvis

Head of Book Development at Rebel Girls

Sarah Parvis has had a long and varied career in the publishing industry. Sarah began their career in 1999 as an Assistant Editor at The Stonesong Press, a book packager, where they developed and pitched book ideas, and edited books. In 2001, they moved on to become the Publicity Director at One Year Lease. In 2004, they took on two roles: Freelance Writer and Researcher at SP Research, and Publicist at Nike Communications, Inc. At SP Research, they wrote manuscripts and handled photo research for a variety of clients, while at Nike Communications, Inc., they devised publicity strategies for Dewar’s Finest Scotch Whisky and Vonage. In 2005, Sarah joined Downtown Bookworks as Editorial Director and Author. As Editorial Director, they worked closely with the company president to develop and implement their publishing strategy, and came up with a mix of licensed and non-licensed book concepts. In 2020, Sarah became the Head of Book Development at Rebel Girls.

Sarah Parvis attended Vassar College from 1994 to 1998.
